- Best thing you ate in Kyoto? : r JapanTravelTips - Reddit
I’m in Kyoto for a couple more days and wanted to ask what was the best thing you had here? My friends and I love food and have been eating our way around town We aren’t really into gourmet dining or Kaiseki meals We’d love some recommendations and to hear what good stuff you’ve had! So far, my favorites in Kyoto have been Chao Chao Gyoza and Menya Inoichi

- What’s the best area to stay in Kyoto? : r JapanTravelTips - Reddit
The small downside, I think, is that to get anywhere else often requires getting back to Kyoto Station which is an additional hop And I dunno what Airbnbs are like these days (heh, I'm probably overthinking any potential changes in the last year)
- Where would you go in Kyoto if you only had about 2 days there?
The only "kyoto spot" that you need to see is Fushimi Inari (did you even go to kyoto if you didnt take a picture of the tori gates?) Go early morning to Fushimi Inari, climb the mountain and go down the other side, stop at the shop selling amasake and just chill out
- Best location to stay in for first visit to Kyoto? - Reddit
I would suggest the Cross Hotel Kyoto (different location than the Sakura Cross Hotel suggested in another comment ) It was super close to Pontocho Alley and Kiyamachi-dori
- 5 Days in KYOTO: What to do? What to skip? : r Kyoto - Reddit
5 days in Kyoto or 5 days in Kansai? For Kyoto itself, I think 5 days is a reasonable amount of time, but if you're using it as a base for Kansai I would recommend at least a couple more for at least day trips to Nara, Osaka, and Himeji (possibly with Kobe) For Kyoto itself, I answered almost this exact question a couple of years ago in this post I do not recommend treating this like a check
- r Kyoto on Reddit: Arashiyama Bamboo forest alternatives? Ive read it . . .
I just got to Kyoto yesterday and was planning to visit the Arashiyama bamboo forest early (6-7am) tomorrow to beat the crowds, but I've read that the forest is very small and extremely overcrowded Especially since we are here during golden week Are there any other amazing bamboo forest alternatives around Kyoto? Side question, is Fushimi Inari better to visit at sunrise or sunset?
- I went to Kyoto and Osaka during Golden Week and it was . . . fine
I also think this is the reason why it wasn’t so crowded this year Many of us, Japanese, don’t typically avoid cities during Golden Week since Kyoto, Tokyo, and Osaka are always the most popular destinations during this vacation week However, accommodations have been pricey lately, as you said, because they target international tourists

- Stay in Kyoto, Osaka, or both? : r JapanTravelTips - Reddit
For Kyoto, that would allow you more time to explore before the crowds come roaring in during 9-3ish However, if you're coming from Osaka, taking the earliest trains can get you to Kyoto around 6-6:30am, so decent amount of quiet, no crowd time For Osaka, it's mostly to stay out late to experience the nightlife
